About

It was in Puerto Rico, where Abdiel was introduced to theatre from a cultural lens, working with local theatrical, dance, events, film, and television artistic companies. Abdiel obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and a terminal degree, Master of Fine Arts in Theatre with focus in Costume Design and Technology, from the Pennsylvania State University (We are!). His research advocates for inclusion of diversity in garment making, fashion and academia. Currently, Abdiel serves as a faculty member, Resident Costume Designer and Costume Shop Manager at University of San Francisco where he learns and relearns with students and colleagues the field of Costume Design and Costume Construction inspired by the creativity of the academic community and the community at large.

In the last 15 years Abdiel has collaborated for companies domestically around United States and Puerto Rico and expanding internationally.

Traveling the world, Abdiel gained global experiences related to the history, foundation, and implications of fashion, costume making, design and theatre that serve as the inspiration for his lifelong commitment to teaching, creating, building, and transforming in community.
